Former Fate/Grand Order director Yosuke Shiokawa revealed a Tsurugihime side-scrolling action RPG game in the works at Indie Live Expo 2022. Along with the reveal, Shiokawa’s new studio, Fahrenheit 213, streamed a gameplay trailer.

Illustrator Kouhaku Kuroboshi (Kino’s Journey, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online) is designing the characters. Takeharu Ishimoto (Final Fantasy Type-0) is composing the music.

The developer describes the game as follows;

The final battle takes place in 100 days. How you spend those days is up to you, the player. The game uses an eternally beloved side-scrolling action RPG as its base while also incorporating various crafting elements. You can battle, train, explore, and even craft a “sister.” An RPG where you can even “craft” fate itself.

Shiokawa’s Tsurugihime RPG: Creating New Indie Titles

Yosuke Shiokawa first joined Delight Works and worked as a director on the Fate/Grand Order game. He previously worked at Square Enix and worked on games such as Kingdom Hearts II and Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

Shiokawa first left Delight Works in February to form his new studio Fahrerrnheit 213, focusing on developing new intellectual properties. In an October interview, he explained that after finishing his work on the Fate/Grand Order spinoff game in 2020, he felt he had achieved everything he wanted with the franchise. From there, Shiokawa said he desired to work on new titles. However, the atmosphere at Delight Works has changed, so he decided to go independent. He said that he wanted to create a 3D action title and would develop it for PC. He also said that he planned to create larger-scale games for consoles and smartphones.

As per Indie Live Expo 2022, the Tsurugihime RPG game will be released on PC via Steam in 2024.

The live stream of the Idie Live Expo (Tsurugihime announcement included) is available to stream on Twitter, Youtube, Twitch, and bilibili. Available languages for the stream included English, Chinese, and Japanese.
