It’s a major buzzkill when the authoritative state figures strip you away of your entire identity. This seems to be the unfortunate circumstance for one Evan Kapnos, whose living being is being Foreclosed.

Set within a cyberpunk universe, Foreclosed takes place in a comic book world where the cinematics and gameplay resemble the narrative styles of graphic novels. Inspired by the unique worlds of Max Payne and Deus Ex, the game follows a narrative-driven adventure through third-person gunplay and science fiction storytelling. Much of the game’s comic book narrative style comes from Frank Miller’s Hard Boiled graphic novel.

In a reveal trailer for Foreclosed, we’re given a brief look at the game’s central conflict. Scopes of vibrant environments and action-packed sequences with pistols and implant abilities. Bright lights, comic book outlines, story panels, voiceovers and espionage music are all provided until it cuts to the title.

Evan comes equipped with a Symbiotic Pistol that can be altered into modes. From a machine gun transformation to shooting off explosions, this trusty weapon will be utilized quite a bit. Through an RPG-like skill system, players can unlock more implant abilities to go hand-in-hand with his pistol.

There is also a “deep dive” video for Foreclosed that further explores the game’s music, programming, and mechanics. In lieu of a traditional trailer, you’ll get more of an idea of where this game could take the player. Both Andrea Tabacco and Lara Gianotti of Antab Studio offer their wisdom and facts throughout the deep dive.

Foreclosed is currently in development. It is being created by Italian-based team Antab Studio with publishing by Merge Games. It is set for a release date in 2021 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
