Celebrity chef and restauranteur, Bobby Flay, has finally signed a new deal to extend his contract with Discovery’s Food Network. According to a report from Variety, the two have reached an agreement on a new three-year contract. This news comes six weeks after negotiations between the network and Flay stalled over financial terms.
Bobby Flay’s new deal with Food Network includes an exclusive pact. With it in place, Flay will be exclusive to Discovery’s family of TV channels all the way through the middle of the decade. This includes Bobby Flay’s 30th on-air anniversary with the network. The new deal also includes an expansion for content opportunities for Flay’s Rock Shrimp Productions, which produces nearly all of his shows.
Last month, negotiations on Bobby Flay’s new deal with the network ended abruptly. Sources close to news outlets indicated finances as the main cause. However, a rumor circulated that Flay wanted to receive more money than his colleague Guy Fieri. Back in May, Fieri inked an incredible three-year deal with Food Network in the high eight-figure range.
The president of Food Network and food streaming content for Discovery, Courtney White, shared her thoughts continuing their working relationship with Bobby Flay, stating:
Over the years, Bobby Flay has been part of dozens of Food Network TV shows, including Great Chefs, Food Nation, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Worst Cooks in America, The Main Ingredient with Bobby Flay, and Beat Bobby Flay. A new deal with the network will undoubtedly lead to further Bobby Flay appearances on Food Network shows as well as Flay-centric shows.
