Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is an upcoming open-world action RPG from the team at A44 Games and publisher Kepler Interactive, and its team has chosen to unveil its first lock at gameplay during the Xbox Bethesda showcase earlier today. Check out the aforementioned gameplay trailer below.

A Quest For Vengeance

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn opens with a look at the rather fantastical world it finds itself in, along showing its inhabitants don’t get along quite so well (though in the people’s defense, undead creatures aren’t exactly the most friendly of beings). We then catch a glimpse of Nor Vanek, the main mercenary looking to take down these evil beings and go on a personal quest of hers, alongside her animal sidekick Enki. But her sidekick isn’t all she has at her disposal to dispatch her foes. Using one of my favorite combos in gaming, a mix of both magic and gunpowder help you handle whatever creature this world dares to throw at you. This together should make you and Nor Vanek an unstoppable killing machine.

To go together with everything else, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn makes sure it throws worthwhile challenges at you. As the Steam blog post for the trailer aptly puts, enemies prove to be “challenging encounters where understanding the patterns and rhythm of your enemies will be key to your survival.” While that may initially seem like a nod to the soulslike genre, it seems the game is far from that sort of experience. Regardless, you should find yourself feeling rewarded for understanding the game and the foes you come across.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, as revealed at the Xbox Bethesda Showcase, is setting its sights on an early 2023 release date on both PC and Xbox platforms. If you’d like more information on what to expect, or to hear some background knowledge about the game, head over to the Steam page now!
