Over the past several months, Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon has been working on an “Ultimate Custom Night” mode, set to feature characters spanning the entire series. Originally meant to be a mode in last year’s Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator, this new Ultimate Custom Night ended up becoming its own game. The release date for the game was originally set for August, then later moved up to July 5, before finally landing on the official release date of June 29. However, Cawthon is known to not exactly stand by his official release dates and release games early if he thinks they’re ready, and this is what has happened again. Today, June 27, Cawthon released Ultimate Custom Night, which is now available to play on PC for free.
Ultimate Custom Night features more than fifty characters from the Five Nights at Freddy’s series, coming from all six main series games and even the FNaF World spin-off. All characters behave differently (though some are pretty similar to each other) and many introduce completely new mechanics to the franchise. As fans have come to expect, all characters can have their difficulty levels set from 0 to 20, making 50/20 mode (all 50 characters set to level 20 difficulty) the most difficult challenge in the franchise. There are also apparently hidden cutscenes to be found in the game, so you can be sure that the series’s lore is about to get even more confusing.
