Marvel Studios has officially released the very first full Thor: Love and Thunder trailer, as well as confirmed a release date of July 8, 2022. The story will follow Thor as he goes on a journey to figure out exactly who he is and choose his path following his days as a superhero.

Thor: Love and Thunder Trailer and Details

The new Thor: Love and Thunder trailer provides the first official glimpse at the character of Thor following the events of Avengers: Endgame when he left with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Star-Lord, Drax, Rocket Racoon, Nebula, Mantis, and Groot return, including Valkyrie and Krog from Thor: Ragnarok.

“The film finds Thor on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late,” the official description reads.

Russell Crowe also makes a brief appearance as Zeus also makes an appearance, but the audience is only given a view of his back and a quick moment of him catching a lightning bolt. While Christian Bale’s God Butcher is absent from the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer, this is only the first of much more likely to come.

Fans were also given their first look at Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who is now taking up the mantle of the Mighty Thor and wielding the legendary hammer, Mjolnir.
