The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard has numerous Next Generation characters coming back. In an exclusive image to TVLine, we see the return of Michael Dorn as Worf in Star Trek: Picard season three. In The Next Generation series, Worf was the Klingon chief security officer of the Enterprise. The image shows Worf standing face-to-face with Jean-Luc Picard. Like many of the former Enterprise crew, Worf has definitely felt the effects of age, as is evident by his now grey hair and goatee. However, he appears ready for one last mission with the rest of the crew.

Worf and the Enterprise Crew Reunite in ‘Star Trek: Picard’ Season 3

Michael Dorn, celebrating his 70th birthday today, isn’t the only star from The Next Generation to return for Star Trek: Picard season three. Showrunner Terry Matalas says he views this final season of Picard as a reunion for The Next Generation cast members. These members include Michelle Hurd, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, LeVar Burton, and Wil Wheaton.

According to Giant Freakin’ Robot, this will be Dorn’s first appearance since the critically panned 2002 film Star Trek: Nemesis. With no news from the character in 20 years, fans of the character are certain to be eager as to what the character has been up to. He could still be working as the Federation’s ambassador to the Klingon Empire, a position he was given in the series finale of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

While he does not appear happy in the TVLine image, this could just be Worf’s classic stoicism on display. Or perhaps there is an unknown tension between him and Captain Picard that we don’t know of. Our questions about Worf’s return likely won’t be answered until Star Trek: Picard season three is out. The final season will premiere on Paramount+ on February 16, 2023.
