Warhawk was one of the most innovative titles in recent memory and because of that, gamers have been clamoring for a sequel for quite some time. These wishes have seemingly come to reality in the discovery of “Starhawk”, a boxed retail sequel to it’s predecessor for the PlayStation 3.

What made Warhawk unique was its multiplayer only approach it took, as well taking a completely digital approach to distribution.  Starhawk is rumored to differ from the original in that it will be released at brick and mortar retail chains, but more importantly, will take players through a single player campaign as well.  The main gameplay elements seem to remain intact if unconfirmed rumors are correct.  The vehicle mainstays will make a return, but this time will also include flying space vehicles with both the single and multiplayer portions of the game set in an entirely new universe.

Despite the many rumors in the past, gamers can expect first official details for the game to be released some time in May leading up to a full demo at E3.  Nothing has been confirmed at this point, but we’ll likely hear more about this PlayStation 3 exclusive in the coming weeks.

Are you excited for Starhawk? If so, Do you think it was the best move expanding into single player for the game?
