If you haven’t yet played through Final Fantasy XV, you might want to hold off, because there could be something like a “complete” edition on its way. That would presumably include DLC and additional content, and you wouldn’t have to purchase an additional season pass. The ESRB has rated a game called Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which sounds an awful lot like the “game of the year” editions you hear about after a game’s additional content has released.
There isn’t anything particularly useful bout the ESRB’s description of the game, which basically explains the “T” rating and why it was assigned said rating, but it’s safe to assume since this new game has been given one, it’s coming soon. Square Enix has yet to comment on the potential new release, but we’ll probably be hearing something from the publisher at some point.
The role-playing game features additional DLC episodes in the form of Episode Gladiolus, Episode Prompto, Episode Ignis, and the Comrades multiplayer expansion. There’s a hefty amount of extra goodies you can get if you need additional content to complete after finishing the main game, which these other episodes do a good job of expanding. Hopefully the Royal Edition gathers everything in one place and onto a disc so there’s no need to download everything or grab a season pass. It would certainly make the massive amount of content feel a little more manageable if you had it all gathered in one place.
