Final Fantasy XIV offers plenty of activities for players of all types. While there is a plethora of content for those interested in experiencing the story and tackling AI enemies, there is also a PvP option for those aiming to test their skills against other players. The PvP is getting an overhaul with the 6.1 update.

Square Enix announced that a new mode would replace The Feast PvP mode in Final Fantasy XIV alongside the 6.1 update. This new model, Crystalline Conflict, sees players join together in five-person teams in small arenas, a shift from The Feast’s four-person groups.

The developers of Final Fantasy XIV showcased the new Crystalline Conflict mode with an on-stream game during their Letter from the Producer LIVE show, even sharing the new customizable player card system that players can use to showcase their character before a match.

The Crystalline Conflict aims to reinvigorate PvP for Final Fantasy XIV’s dedicated competitive fanbase, introduce new mechanics and maps, and tweak job skills in PvP for a more balanced experience.
