Final Fantasy XIV is one of those comeback stories, like No Man’s Sky, where the journey from condemnation to widespread acclaim and success. The latest chapter on Final Fantasy XIV‘s story comes in the upcoming Endwalker expansion. In a letter from the team over at Square Enix, game producer Naoki Yoshida (also known as YoshiP), gave some more details on the Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker expansion, specifically the two new classes coming with the expansion, the Reaper and the Sage.

Perhaps the first thing to note of the Reaper class in the Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker expansion is the massive scythe you’ll wield. The Reaper also comes with a new gauge in the UI by the name of the Soul Gauge that can be charged up and used in conjunction with other actions to unleash a number of devastating attacks. You can also summon a demon (because you’re besties) who can help you in combat. Ah yes, nothing like a casual summon of a demon in a battle to turn the tides against your enemy. You can open up portals to help cover the distances between you and your target too.

Sages in the Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker expansion can draw upon the arcane to help heal their allies in battle, something that you’ll be wanting to do in the many raids you’ll be navigating to get the best gear and resources. The Adder Gall ability raises a number of barriers to protect your allies, and Icarus propels you forward to close the gaps on your foes.
