We all know that the battle royale genre is dominated by Fortnite. Everyone can see that. Yesterday we got a hotfix with a new fun weapon and the game keeps getting better. Yet, it is always good to see other companies dipping their feet in this field too. But, it is also sad to see the games shutting down early. The Final Fantasy VII battle royale is doing precisely that. Just after a year of launch, we got the news of Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier shutting down next year. Something that we didn’t expect to happen too soon.
Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier Shutting Down On January 11
We’ve already seen some games with fun concepts in the genre shutting down. One of the first victims was Spellbreak which was a fun game. Now, Final Fantasy VII battle royale will close its doors for good next year. January 11 is the official date. There is already an official post about it. The company claims that they weren’t able to deliver the game they wanted and that is the reason why Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier shutting down is happening.
Final Fantasy 16 Will Drop Another Trailer Soon
We don’t know if the fact that the game was mobile-only had an impact on this. A lot of players that play these types of games also do it on PC and console. However, Square Enix catered to the mobile market only which isn’t bad. Just like Final Fantasy VII battle royale, there are other games that are mobile-only that bring a lot of revenue. Yet, it would seem that this one just didn’t make the cut. However, it isn’t all sad and gloomy. While Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier shutting down is imminent, the other Final Fantasy games are standing strong. Final Fantasy XIV releases its 6.25 update next week. Crisis Core is coming this year and Final Fantasy XVI seems a lot closer now. So, not all is lost for Final Fantasy fans.
