Update

Square Enix pushed Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles back to summer of 2020.

Original Story

More than 15 years after the launch of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Square Enix is releasing a remastered version of the classic RPG January 23. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is returning with a number of enhanced features, new ways to play, and will be available in several ways.

As one of the most treasured games on the Nintendo Gamecube back in 2004, Crystal Chronicles included one of the more unique ways to play with friends by using a Game Boy Advance. This time around, however, the Remastered Edition removes the mess of cables and the handheld device to instead focus on an online multiplayer option.

One of the features of the HD version is the ability to cross-play between any device with up to four players. However, at this time, there is no word on if there is the option to play with multiple people on the same console. The online function allows players to connect four different devices to carry the crystal chalice throughout the land. Along the way, players will encounter brand new monsters, bosses, and never before seen dungeons.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition will also include upgraded graphics and improved audio with new voice-over dialogue from the playable hero characters.

Along with the official announcement, the developers also gave fans a look at the official release trailer for the upcoming game. It includes an updated version of the song Morning Sky by Donna Burk.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition will release on January 23 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, IOS, and Android devices.
