Back in September, Square Enix made Final Fantasy fans excited when it announced that the GameCube cult classic Crystal Chronicles would return in Remastered form with a January 2020 release window. Sadly, it looks like they’ll have to wait a little bit longer for it.

The publisher took to Twitter to announce that Crystal Chronicles would be delayed to summer 2020.

“Today we’re announcing that the release date for the game is being moved to summer 2020,” it explained in its posts. “We’ve made the decision to adjust the release date to allow the development team some extra time to make final adjustments to the game to make this the best experience possible.”

“We know you’ve been waiting patiently for this game, and we hope you’ll continue to support us as you have done so far, over the coming months through to launch.”

Square Enix also expressed gratitude for its fans anticipating the game’s release. “Since announcing #FInalFantasy CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered Edition, we’ve read so many positive messages filled with encouragement, and all of us on the team would like to thank you for the support you’ve shown us so far.”

It also reiterated that you’ll be able to play the game online with friends and be able to transfer your save file across multiple platforms. Fans are sure to love those features once the game is good to go.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition will arrive next summer for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, as well as iOS and Android devices. Watch the latest trailer from Tokyo Game Show below.
