Remember Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles? Remember how the remastered version was due to release in January of this year? Well that release date came and went as the game was pushed back to sometime in the summer and things went a bit quiet on the release.

Square Enix did have bigger fish to fry after all in the form of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. A game that did rather well for itself.

With that out of the way, a new release date has been announced for Crystal Chronicles, August 27. There’s also a new trailer for the remaster and it is looking pretty good. The remaster will also bring with it a host of new content, which is a nice touch for a game that released way back in 2003.

Before we discuss any of that, take a look at the new trailer and see what you think of it:

To those of you unaware, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is a co-operative game for up to 4 players, and, at the time, it was a bit of a diversion from the usual Final Fantasy games as it was much more action-orientated than what we were used to. How times change.

The remaster will include updated audio and visuals (obviously) and will feature new voice acting. There will also be new dungeons available to slog through as well as a new mimic feature. Players will get access to memory crystals that will allow for some character customization.

I can’t wait to try out Crystal Chronicles again. I’ve owned it on the GameCube since day one, but unfortunately, I didn’t know anyone else who owned it so I’ve only ever been able to play it in single-player.

This time around players will be able to take the co-operative aspect online making a 4 player game easier than ever. The remastered edition will even allow for cross-play, so there’s no excuse for your friends to not play it with you.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles will release on PlayStation 4 August 27, the title will also come to the Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
