Today is a weird day for the Final Fantasy 14 community. This morning we all woke up to see one of the most wholesome things ever. Organized by Alex Moukala, we saw a rendition of Close in the Distance sung by hundreds of members of the community. On the other hand, we saw a display of what we can assume is either bold or really strange. Final Fantasy 14 Billboards are being used to promote an in-game event. This is really, really bad. As you know, Square Enix, as well as other game companies, have strict policies on data mining. Why do we mention this? Well, the things you can see on the billboard include outfits that are not even released yet. That’s not all, though; the game’s logo is right up there. These FFXIV billboards are not something that the company wanted.

Final Fantasy 14 Billboards Are Being Used Without The Company’s Knowledge

These types of actions are due to affect a lot of players. Beyond the datamined stuff, the characters on the FFXIV billboards use custom poses. Said poses are only possible through third-party software. Something that once more, Square Enix has been very clear to state that they are forbidden. While some of these mods do not break the game or provide any advantage, they should not be used, especially in a public setting. So now, players are waiting to see if the Final Fantasy 14 Billboards will affect other players or just those involved.

It has been a crazy day for all the community. Actually, it has been a few days full of news from this MMO. Last time we saw what the new 6.2 patch is bringing. The new island sanctuary, new story, and new dungeons with more difficulty. The latter was what excited the people a lot more.

We’ll have to wait and see how the team at Square Enix reacts and what actions they will take. Meanwhile, we can all just stay put and watch the overflowing number of memes surging due to this.
