Every inch forward makes a free kick harder.
One of the little known moves that veteran FIFA players know is somewhat of a small cheat which allow players to move the wall slightly forward before a free kick. This gives the free kick taker less room to work with, even if it is just a few inches forward.
To move the wall forward when on defense on a free kick you can inch the players forward by pressing the RB Button (Xbox) R1 (PlayStation). Moving these players forward is a bit of a risk reward scenario. If you move them too far forward you run the risk of the referee seeing and then carding you for doing the illegal tactic.
How to cheat wall forward on free kick
Xbox: RB Button PlayStation: R1 Button
If you don’t try to exploit this move too much, then you can get away with inching forward slightly just before the free kick.
Once the ball is in play it’s back to defense as usual.
