Final Fantasy XIV is celebrating the festive holidays by doing their yearly Starlight Celebration, something they’ve done right from its inception. As per the usual, there’s a questline associated with the event, as well as a variety of celebrations and decorations in some of your favorite base locales. The Starlight Celebration event is live now and will continue until December 31st, as is the usual for this event. Through this time and the questline, players can get a series of house aesthetics and a new mount that is only available during this time.

One of the more unique items up for grabs is the Snowman mount, which is obtainable by completing the event questline. You can start this questline by going to Old Gridania anytime during the event period and speaking with Amh Garanjy at Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre (X:10.2, Y:9.4), accepting the starting quest “A Festive Fiasco.” The questline is the type you usually see with events like this: go one place, talk to an NPC, find some items, and adjust some scenery. It’s not particularly difficult and there are no associated Duties so it shouldn’t take you that long to complete. Considering the story content is fairly endearing so it’s worth the playthrough, even if the rewards were a little different.

The last quest in the questline, “Starlit Smiles,” will have you dressing some snowmen in accordance with an NPC’s wishes; you should be dressing the taller of the two in the black hat and green scarf and the smaller of the two in the matching hat and scarf. Completing this portion of the quest earns you the Snowman Bell and, like all mount items before it, using it earns you the mount.

It’s fairly simple once you know what to do but it’s easy to overlook and as this is not likely to return in this exact form again anytime soon, it could be highly desirable for anyone with a knack for sprucing up for the festive holiday season.
