One of the most coveted badges of honor in Final Fantasy XIV is a rare mount and Ala Mhigo’s Magitek Predator Mount is no exception to this rule as the only way you used to be able to get it was through hoping it appears randomly as a reward for completing the Ala Mhigo four-player dungeon. However, now, thanks to the Moogle Treasure Trove event called The Hunt for Esoterics, there’s a much more reliable way to get your Magitek Predator Mount and this guide will give you tips on how to make that happen.

How to Get the Magitek Predator Mount

As mentioned before, it used to be that you needed to run Ala Mhigo endlessly until you got one and, thanks to its super rare drop rate, it could have been a long time before you got yours. Ala Mhigo isn’t a terribly difficult dungeon but it’s not exactly pedestrian either, so that could lengthen things a fair bit. Thankfully, The Hunt for Esoterics not only offers a chance to get it more easily, but you can get what you need to grab it while doing your Duty Roulette dailies.

To get the mount through the event, you’ll need to earn 50 Irregular Tomestones of Esoterics and you’ll earn them by completing a specific set of Duties that will award these Tomestones. They all award a variety of them but the highest amount is 10 and you get that amount for one run of the Praetorium. As such, you should probably focus on that Duty in order to farm for these Tomestones but if you wish to see what other Duties are available for Tomestones, you’ll see them marked on the Duty Finder list with a Moogle head icon.

When you’ve collected enough you can redeem them for the mount key with the Itinerant Moogle in either Ul’dah, The Steps of Nald (9.6, 9.1), New Gridania (12.4, 12.1), or Limsa Lomina Lower Decks (9.4, 11.6), located close to the point where you teleport in. The event has already started and will continue until patch 5.5 drops so you have about a month from the time of this writing to get this all done.
