Early on in Final Fantasy XIV‘s A Realm Reborn days, the Extreme versions of the Primal fights had a mount that was available randomly for completing those trials. The Gullfaxi, a horse mount themed after the Titan Extreme Trial that you got the mount from, is now available again thanks to an event that is currently running up until patch 5.5 drops and this guide will help you find your way into earning it in a much easier way than before.

How to Get the Gullfaxi Mount in Final Fantasy XIV

Like I mentioned earlier, the only way you used to be able to get the Gullfaxi mount, a horse mount themed after Titan, was completing the Titan Extreme Trial until it randomly rewarded the party with it. This meant it could happen within the first couple of attempts and it could take literally forever until you picked it up; not only did it need to show up in your reward list but you also likely needed to win a roll to get it.

Now, with the help of the Moogle Treasure Trove event The Hunt for Esoterics, you’ll not have to worry too much about RNG if you’re looking to pick up the Gullfaxi mount as all you’ll have to do is pick up Irregular Tomestones of Esoterics and redeem them to get your mount. Currently, the easiest way to earn the Esoterics is by running the Praetorium Duty, which will give you 10 for your trouble. If Praetorium isn’t quite your thing though, you can check the Duty Finder list and see which Duties give you Esoterics by noting which ones are marked off with a little Moogle’s head icon.

For this particular mount, you’ll need 30 Esoterics to get the item that permits you to summon the mount. Then, you can bring those Esoterics to the Itinerant Moogle in either Ul’dah, The Steps of Nald (9.6, 9.1), New Gridania (12.4, 12.1), or Limsa Lomina Lower Decks (9.4, 11.6), located close to the point where you teleport in. Thankfully, you have until 5.5 drops to do all this, so you’ll have plenty of time to wrap up all your Esoterics needs by then, with any luck.
