Square Enix has released a brand new Final Fantasy VII Remake screenshot, revealing significant improvements over the original Cloud character model.

The screenshot was released ahead of Jump Festa 2019, where Final Fantasy VII Remake will show up with a new trailer. Compared to PlayStation Experience 2015’s reveal and Tokyo Game Show 2019 (the image below the headline), it remarks noticeable improvements for what matters the quality of the visuals.

As you can see in the screenshots below, shared by TwistedVoxel, lighting has been tweaked to give Cloud’s face more expressions, while textures’ quality over the costume has been improved as well. The game has a darker tone now, and that will perhaps help graphics’ details to emerge.

It’s the norm that games, especially those revealed well ahead of their final release, get improved over the development process, but maybe not even fans were expecting this much to change before the launch of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

The game is releasing on March 3, 2020, for PlayStation 4. When you purchase it, you’ll only get the first part of a series that put together will make for the full remake of Final Fantasy VII. We don’t know how many parts are being released, but we do know that the second is already in the making at Square Enix.
