Fashion-don’ts beware, for the Fashion Police Squad is coming to slay the streets in beta on Steam right now. Developed by Mopeful Games and published by No More Robots, Fashion Police Squad is a retro-inspired FPS modeled after Doom and Wolfenstein 3D. Armed with a sewing machine gun (you read that right) and a trusty belt, players help the denizens of a city learn some fashion sense as Sergeant Des of the Fashion Police Squad. Rather than killing, the player spruces up the unkempt masses. Using the belt will pull up the sagging pants, a dye gun will add color to grey-suited men, and the Tailormade sewing machine gun can tighten up loose hanging clothes. Doing these actions will help build up the Fab meter, which acts as a special meter. At full capacity, Des can literally slap the fashion sense into enemies.

In addition to the shooting mechanics, players can explore the city to uncover different secrets. It is unclear at the time of writing if the city is open-world, but it may be the case based on the footage shown. Moreover, the player can traverse high into the air with a belt, swinging from flagpoles like the most beautifully dressed Spider-Man around. Retro-like power-ups are also available in Fashion Police Squad, like the mocktail which heals the player, or other pick-ups that change the property of equipped weapons.

Des will also take part in fashion shows, though how that plays out is also unknown. Bosses are even spread out through the city, giving Des plenty to do while solving “Fashion Crimes.” Fashion Police Squad is still in development but the game is currently in beta right now on Steam. The game’s full release is expected in 2022, though whether it is the beginning or end of the year is not stated. Players can sign-up for the beta right now at this link.
