With the whole COVID-19 pandemic plaguing the world at the moment, you wouldn’t really expect a lot to come out of the gaming industry. Numerous delays and moving from in-person to remote work hinders the development process, yet developers still manage to work their way through. Through more recent events, a new studio is emerging known as Far From Home, based in Wroclaw, Poland. Not only that, but the team is working on their first game for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.  You can visit their website here.

Far From Home’s first project is currently under the codename of Project Oxygen. We don’t know a lot about it just yet, but there were a few details to be shared. You play as a lone scientist, exploring an Earth that’s incredibly unfamiliar to ours. It’s in ruins, following humanity’s failure to fight off its own collapse. As this scientist, you must survive and discover the secrets of an ecologically destroyed Earth. Exploration and survival will be at the forefront of the game, requiring players to consistently walk into danger if they are to survive this harsh climate.

With just that premise, Project Oxygen is already catching my interest. Apocalypse isn’t anything new in the realm of game premises, but the way it’s described is fascinating. This is brimming with potential and if the team can utilize that potential, it could become an infamous title. I trust they can get there, with many industry veterans coming to work for Far From Home. These are members of the teams that made Dying Light, The Witcher, and Last Oasis, all of which are good games in their respective genres.

We’ll have to wait for more on this game as time goes on, but I’ll be keeping an eye on it. I’d love to hear your thoughts though. Are you intrigued by Project Oxygen? Any of the games these developers came from that you’re a fan of? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
