Star Wars Battlefront 3 was sadly never made until EA/DICE’s reboot released last year in the form of Star Wars Battlefront. A talented group of fans acquired assets from the cancelled Battlefront 3 and they plan to release it under the name of Galaxy of Turmoil.

The group behind the game, Frontwire Studios, posted an interesting update on their blog page. According to them, they will be able to release Galaxy of Turmoil on Steam as Valve has given them permission to do so.

They said: “It is with great pleasure that as of today I am able to officially announce that Frontwire Studios has officially signed a distribution deal with Steam/Valve for the game Galaxy in Turmoil. After ongoing discussion between Valve Representatives and myself, Valve/Steam has agreed to ship Galaxy in Turmoil to it’s millions of users for FREE.”

Frontwire Studios notes there might be some cease & desist letters from Disney and EA, but they feel Valve can help them keep the project up for as long as possible. After all, the game is free and they won’t be profiting off of it.

There’s no release date for the game yet, but you better download it as fast as you can before Disney and EA close in. It will be cool to see what Star Wars Battlefront 3 would have been like as it was originally going to come out in 2008.
