Fallout fans had a lot to be excited about in 2015, with the release of Fallout 4 after years of waiting, speculation, and anticipation. Sure, the game was a surprise, despite every single gamer assuming that it was coming for years. But what no one actually expected was Fallout Shelter, a free-to-play mobile title that puts you in charge of your own survival bunker. The game was a huge hit on mobile platforms, and now it’s coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 PC via the Xbox Play Anywhere program.
“Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition, have announced that Fallout Shelter is expanding once more to a new audience, putting Overseers in control of their own Vault and an army of Dwellers on Xbox One and Windows 10,” reads the announcement. “Fallout Shelter will be available on February 7 as an Xbox Play Anywhere title via a free download from the Xbox Store or Windows Store.”
Players can download the game for free, just like they could on iPhone and Android devices. There are in-app purchases available to speed up the gameplay and unlockables, but most stuff in the game can be earned just by playing.
As an Xbox Play Anywhere game, your progress will sync up between Xbox One and Windows 10 PC versions of Fallout Shelter. So you can freely bounce between playing on your TV and monitor, depending on the situation. With a game like Fallout Shelter, which doesn’t require a beefy PC to run, this should be really nice, allowing you to play it on the go, with synced progress from your Xbox One.
