Fallout 76‘s newest content addition, Steel Reign, is officially upon us. With it comes every wastelander’s dream – Legendary Crafting. This new system of upgrading can turn even the most ordinary laser rifle into something that could take off a Deathclaw’s head at 300 yards. Legendary Upgrades even come in three tiers, allowing for more carnage for those dedicated enough to find the materials and recipes. There is one particular component you might be on the search for to complete your upgrades – Legendary Cores. Legendary Cores are an essential part of the Legendary Crafting addition in Steel Reign, making them one of the most sought-after items in Fallout 76 currently.

Whether you’re looking to beef up your Power Armor or pack more of a punch with your minigun, here’s how to get Legendary Cores.

How to Get Legendary Cores

Legendary Cores are earned by completing Seasonal Events, Public Events, and Daily Ops. These are ever-changing in the Fallout 76 world so in the future there may be new or different ways to earn Legendary Cores. For now, there is a pretty set list of Events that you can take part in to earn the Cores you need. Being that Events and Daily Ops are the only way of earning Legendary Cores, don’t expect to come across them on the corpse of a tough enemy or tucked away in a trunk in some far corner of Appalachia.

Which Events Give Guaranteed Cores?

Currently, these events guarantee a reward of Legendary Cores in Fallout 76:

  • Scorched Earth [Public Event] – 5 on Completion
  • A Colossal Problem [Public Event] – 8 upon Completion
  • Encryptid [Public Event] – 8 upon Completion
  • Campfire Tales [Public Event] – 2-6 upon Completion
  • Fasnacht Day [Seasonal Event] – Between 1-3 cores if 5 parade marchers survive, 1-2 if 3-4 survive, and 1 core if 2 or less survive
  • Free Range [Public Event] – 8 cores if 3 Brahmin survive, between 4-8 if 2 survive, and between 1-3 if 1 survives
  • Project Paradise [Public Event] – 8 cores if 3 creatures live with or without ARIC-4 shutdown, between 4-8 if 2 creatures live, and between 1-3 if 1 creature lives
