Fallout 4 Update 1.4 is now available on Steam according to developer Bethesda. The game should update automatically, so no action is necessary for this one. This patch had been in the beta version of the game for a while, which players could opt into if they wanted to try the new features.
We previously detailed those new features when Fallout 4 Update 1.4 was first announced as entering beta. Now that it is live for all players, PC gamers should find some really great things added to the game via this update. These include new items for use in the Workshop, such as “Super Mutant clutter including meat totems, meat bags and meat cart. Raider clutter including raider poles, cages and tents. Abstract and portrait paintings. Variety of new signs. More metal and wood doors variants.”
There are also more broad changes and fixes coming to Fallout 4, like “Settlements under attack will now display an updated message with the results of the attack if player does not respond. Fixed an issue with screen effects not clearing away properly after using a scope. The Scrounger perk now includes additional common ammo types. Fixed issue that would cause the Pip-Boy menu to turn invisible while swimming. Fixed issue with vendors not properly exchanging caps after several consecutive transactions in a row.”
Fallout 4 Update 1.4 will hit PS4 and Xbox One at some point, though Bethesda isn’t sure when that will be. Both Sony and Microsoft have to put the patch through a number of tests to make sure it works properly on their systems. If any issues are found it could push the update back quite a bit, though that is relatively rare for patches like this.
If you wish to participate in future Fallout 4 Update betas just do the following on your PC: “Right Click on Fallout 4 in your Library. Select Settings. Select Betas. A drop down menu will appear. Select Beta Update. Select OK. Wait a few minutes and Fallout 4 should update.”
