According to the Fall Guys community, a bug with the in-game store led players to only purchase items they wanted to see. Additionally, Fall Guys developer Mediatonic at first resisted refunding the money. But now, Mediatonic has apologized to the community after noticing that some players paid while only browsing the in-game store. And finally, it gives free costumes to Fall Guys players.

Mediatonic Fixed Fall Guys ‘Accidental Purchase’ Bug

The problem, which users massively reported on Reddit, occurred when the player was browsing a costume in the Fall Guys store. Usually, you need to confirm your purchase before purchasing, but it went through without any confirmation. Mediatonic has promised to give away free Grandis costumes to prevent this from happening in Fall Guys, process all refund requests made by players from June 21,  and improve the store. “We heard your feedback on accidental purchases – and we’re sorry!” the developer wrote in the recent tweet. Also, a Mediatonic spokesperson wrote in an email that “what is happening in the game is not intended, and it is actively fixed.”

We heard your feedback on accidental purchases – and we’re sorry!

To make it right:

✨ We’re improving the store design to prevent this✨ All refund requests for cosmetics from 21st June 2022 will be honoured until we improve the store✨ We’re giving everyone GRANDIS ? pic.twitter.com/L7Bsz9nbg8

“This is not a ‘known issue’ because it is not an issue. Items cannot be bought automatically by the system. They always require input from the player. Again, whether accidental or not, you made this input and purchased the item. As per our EULA, which you agreed, all purchases are final and will not be refunded. The customer service response was also not acceptable, and we will offer a make good for all affected.”

What Was the Fall Guys Auto-Buy (or Accidental Purchase) Bug?

The Fall Guys auto-buy bug originally appeared when players found that simply previewing an item could result in an in-game purchase due to the game’s lack of a purchase confirmation option. Usually, players would have to confirm their purchase after the preview, but they now claim that their in-game currency was ‘stolen’ without their consent in exchange for items.

Fall Guys is free on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
