Cloud gaming has taken to being part of the mainstream now. The most efficient thing about it is not needing to download games. It’s an excellent alternative for anyone lacking storage space on their device. Using this method, gamers can peruse the catalog without bogging down their device. While Android and Windows users can benefit from Facebook’s foray into this, the same is not true for Apple users.
Facebook Cloud Gaming Not Coming to Apple iOS
Many of Facebook’s games are already available to play through the app. Previously, these apps required a separate download to play efficiently. Now, with the introduction of Facebook’s new cloud gaming service, that will be a thing of the past. Joseph Rubin, the Vice President of Play for Facebook, said the following:
Apple has done its best to be user-friendly, going so far as to amend certain guidelines. Just last month, they allowed “apps that offer a subscription service to multiple games”. While that is true, each app under the main’s one’s umbrella must also be approved. Apple would allow cloud gaming if Facebook worked it through the mobile web version of the site. But Rubin has stated they do not want their users to constantly go back to the browser. “We don’t want people going to web Facebook 20 times a day”. As Apple’s tech isn’t optimized for cloud gaming, the VP of Play doesn’t feel it’s the best course of action.
This, unfortunately, is not something Apple users are likely to see in the near or distant future. Apple’s store policy states that it “prohibits apps that distribute software as the “main purpose” of the app and bars code that is offered ‘in a store or store-like interface.’”
