BioShock: The Collection is now available for Nintendo Switch. A rumor in January tipped us off, but the March Nintendo Direct confirmed its existence. It is one of three collections from 2K Games that released today. The other two are Borderlands: Legendary Collection and XCOM 2 Collection.

Today is an important day for Nintendo Switch players. In addition to these collections, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition also released today. Given that no one really knows what’s next for Nintendo for the rest of the year, fans may want to take advantage of these releases to hold themselves over.

What To Expect From the BioShock Collection

New players have probably heard by now how renowned the BioShock series is for its gameplay and storytelling. Each entry blends FPS elements with fantastical powers. Players can upgrade their arsenal of steampunk guns. But they can also obtain abilities that let them control enemies or set someone on fire with a snap of their fingers.

The original BioShock followed the sole survivor of an oceanic plane crash next to a mysterious lighthouse. Venturing inside led him to the underwater city of Rapture, a dystopia torn apart by crime. It also has one of the best plot twists in video game history. BioShock 2 also took place in Rapture. Only this time, players controlled a Big Daddy in search of his missing Little Sister, two terrifying enemies from the first game. BioShock Infinite switched things up a bit. Set in the city of Columbia above the clouds, it followed P.I. Booker DeWitt as he searched for a captive girl with reality-altering powers.

BioShock: The Collection takes up 5.4 GB on the Switch, which is actually a pretty good size considering the scope of the games. Just like the collection’s 2016 launch on PS4 and Xbox One, the Switch version comes with all DLC. 2K has seemingly been ensuring these games can be experienced by all manner of players while a new game is worked on. The collection was also free to PlayStation Plus members in February.
