I think Dodge Roll’s Enter the Gungeon has arguably become synonymous with the word roguelike. The genre existed before its release, but it’d be ignorant to say it didn’t pioneer the genre and make it what it is today. You may not be aware of its spin-off though, Exit the Gungeon. This ditches the top-down perspective of the first game in favor of a 2D side-scrolling perspective. While not to the same heights of Enter the Gungeon, the spin-off still proves to be a formidable roguelike with plenty to love. Today, that love is only going to increase. Exit the Gungeon has released its Hello to Arms update today, bringing plenty of new content for players to enjoy. It’s also now available on PS4 and Xbox One, letting the two consoles join in on the fun.

Hello to Arms focuses on its new Arsenal Mode. This new toggleable game mode for Exit the Gungeon allows weapons to both be available as loot and from shops. All of these weapons can be held, along with your Blessed Gun of course. It’s worth noting these weapons have limited ammo, all of which can be filled using various ammo pickups. You’ve probably already picked up on this, but Arsenal Mode aims to be reminiscent of the first game’s weapon management style. Given how well that works, I have no doubts the mode will be a fan favorite.

There are also new Shop Hubs in Exit the Gungeon, appearing twice for every floor you reach. These give you a wide array of choices, leaving you more options when it comes to spending hard-earned currency. This also gives you more rewards for exploring entire floors, which is always a plus. These new Shop Hubs join various changes such as a new optional boss, a new NPC, several guns and items, and the ability to pet the dog. That last change does a lot to increase the value of the game. Why did $10 just disappear from my wallet?

Exit the Gungeon is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Apple Arcade, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
