YouTuber Cycu1 has posted a video comparison featuring the original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and the just-announced Resident Evil 3 remake, coming on April 3, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The video provides a face to face comparison between original characters and their new versions, which are to be considered faithful to their PlayStation 1 era designs. Also, adding something never seen before, like more modern costumes (look at Jill’s outfit) and a more extensive diversity (look at Carlos Oliveira now and then).

While it’s clear that we can expect higher fidelity graphics compared to 1999’s Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, the remake is based on RE Engine. It provides state of the art visuals as seen in Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 remake and Devil May Cry V, and is one of the best pieces of tech in the game industry today.

It’s worth noting that Capcom isn’t working on this remake on its own but is cooperating with series veteran Tatsuya Minami’s new studio, which is lending a hand in developing the remake and its multiplayer mode called Resident Evil Resistance.

The quality of Capcom’s work on the remake has not passed overlooked and has instead been congratulated by former Naughty Dog’s animator Jonathan Cooper, who has worked on some of the biggest releases of the current and past generation of consoles, like The Last of Us and Uncharted 4

According to Cooper, it’s “worth taking a moment to appreciate Capcom’s early investment in photogrammetry has led them to consistently make some of the most stunningly realistic yet appealing humans this generation.”

He posted screens not only from Resident Evil 3 but also from Devil May Cry V and in particular, a pic of Nico, one of the new entries in the franchise who has best provided a look into what RE Engine can achieve.
