GKIDS announced that the Evangelion: 3.0+1.01: Thrice Upon a Time film will have a theatrical run in select theaters. The company will also release the film on home video at a later date. GKIDS and Fathom Events will screen the film in Japanese with English subtitles in U.S theaters. These dates are December 6th, 8th, and 11th. Tickets for these showings will go on sale on November 2nd.

The Evangelion 3.0+1.01 film opened in Japanese theaters on March 8th, 202. It ranked #1 on its opening weekend, and since its release, the film has passed 10 billion yen (about $74 million USD) at the Japanese box office. At the time, it was 2021’s second-highest-grossing Japanese film.

Shout! Factory and GKIDS launched the Collector’s Edition of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime and the films Evangelion: Death (True)2 and The End of Evangelion in December 2021. The Standard Edition Blu-ray Disc set was also released in November 2021. The company began selling digital downloads for the series and the films in November 2021.

Neon Genesis Evangelion’s original story was released in 1995. Written by Hideki Anno and animated by Studio Gainax, the series is regarded as one of the best anime series of all time. Evangelion tells the story of 14-year-old Shinji Ikari. He is summoned by his father to Tokyo-3 to work for the agency NERV. His task, however, is to pilot Eva-01 to protect humanity from the mysterious entities known as the Angles.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.01: Thrice Upon a Time will start its theatrical run on November 30th.
