Epic Games Store is getting an NFT-based game for the first time. According to a statement made by Gala Games today, Wild West battle royale game Grit has been presented to gamers on Epic Games Store.

The game named Grit first appeared in 2021, and it was said that the game will come to Steam as a cowboy battle royale. However, it fell silent after missing a few early access dates, and earlier this year, it re-emerged as a blockchain game, but surprisingly, it is now available in the Epic Games Store.

A few test videos of the game were shared last year, and no statements were made that it would be an NFT-based game. Although Gala Games is a Web3-based game studio, they didn’t mention NFTs.

It’s official!

A battle royal game Grit will be the first Web3-based game on the Epic Games Store. Although Grit is a classic battle royale game, it attracted attention with six-shooters, steam engines, horses, and a poker-based loot system.

Grit now has a page on the Epic Games Store and is listed as “coming soon.” So the release date of the game has not been announced yet. President of Games at Gala Games John Osvald said that:

By the way, it’s worth noting that Grit is still available on Steam. This is even weirder after it arrived in the Epic Games Store. That’s because Valve banned games involving NFTs or cryptocurrency in October 2021. But as an opposite idea, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said Epic would “welcome” blockchain games.

Easy access to Web3 games is a turning point for those players who have not yet seen how digital ownership can enrich the gaming experience.”
