Itching to become a wizard, but totally bummed you can’t do it in real life? Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Jam City have teamed up to bring you Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, the new mobile game for both iOS and Android players that lets you create your own Hogwarts student and trip the school life fantastic.
The game, inspired by the iconic series by J.K. Rowling, will let you create your own student and start attending school, though you won’t be going there while Harry Potter is present. This game takes place before Potter’s years, in the 1980s. That doesn’t mean you won’t see any familiar faces, though. After you’ve joined one of the four iconic Hogwarts houses, you’ll mix in with characters like Professor Snape, McGonagall, and even Dumbledore, all in person.
As you live through your daily life as a student, you’ll learn a set of helpful magical skills, forge relationships with other students, and even learn transfiguration on top of all that. There’s also a special “encounter system” in play where some of the choices you make from day to day will end up affecting certain parts of the story. It’s not clear which as of yet, but it looks like there will be some certain intersections dependent on how you interact with others.
If you’ve been waiting for a Harry Potter mobile game to entertain you on the way to work or while sitting on the throne (and hopefully not while you’re at a muggle school) then you might want to give Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery a try, as it’s available now.
