Actor Harrison Ford got emotional at D23 as he introduced the teaser trailer for Indiana Jones 5. Variety reports that Ford addressed the audience at D23, saying, “Thank you for making these films such an incredible experience for all of us. I’m very proud to say to say that this one is fantastic… Indiana Jones movies are about fantasy and mystery, but they’re also about heart. We have a really great story to tell, as well as a movie that will kick your ass.” The 80-year-old actor told the audience this would be his last time playing Indiana Jones. “This is it,” he said. “I will not fall down for you again. But thank you so much.”
Harrison Ford Bids Character Farewell in ‘Indiana Jones 5’
Ford portrayed Indiana Jones in four movies, the most recent being 2008’s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which many consider the worst film of the franchise. People Magazine reports that Indiana Jones 5 will be the only film in the franchise not to be directed by Steven Spielberg, with Logan director James Mangold taking the job. Spielberg still serves as a producer along with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel.
Ford is starring in Indiana Jones 5 alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, and others. While the trailer for Indiana Jones 5 has not been released publically, Empire described the trailer as “incredibly action-packed. There was desert, there was sea, there looked to be flashbacks with a de-aged Harrison Ford.”
Indiana Jones 5 has been pushed back a couple of times since it was announced, with Covid-19 playing a role. However, moviegoers can now look forward to the movie’s theatrical release on June 30, 2023.
