Umbrella Academy star Elliot Page has unveiled the cover of his memoir, Pageboy, on Instagram (seen below). This comes after announcing the book back in February of this year. The book releases on June 6 and is available to be pre-ordered.

Being vulnerable while writing such a personal story made for a daunting task, as Elliot Page wrote in the Instagram post about the memoir. In it, he wrote about how the idea had been there, but it “never felt right” or “possible.” He came out as transgender in 2020, which opened the door for plenty of things for the actor, like sitting down to write thousands of words about his experience as a transgender man.

When it comes to the cover of the memoir, Elliot Page wrote about how at times in his life, it had been “unbearable to be in front of a camera.” He praised photographer, Catherine Opie. He called the time of taking the picture a “joyous experience” that he “will never forget.”

Around the world, the transgender community has faced violence and laws that restrict their rights and access to healthcare. The author wrote that delivering this insight into his experience is “an important step” against people against the community. For him, reading “helped” and “saved” him, so he wishes to do the same as the authors who have moved him.

The memoir will also give a look behind the curtain of the longstanding career Elliot Page has had over the years. The actor is known for Juno, Umbrella Academy, Inception, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Ahead for his career, he will star in the animated movie Naya Legend of the Golden Dolphin and the animated series Ark, based on the popular survival video game of the same name.
