Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saw the possible end of the Scarlet Witch, also known as Wanda Maximoff. After six projects or seven, if you include her brief appearance in the after-credit scene of Winter Soldier, it is unclear what her future will be or if she will have one at all. In an interview with Variety, Elizabeth Olsen and Kevin Feige had some teases about the future of Wanda in the MCU as we head toward Phase 5 at the beginning of next year.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige continues to be the master of teasing the MCU and what’s to come for Wanda. He admits that there is “so much more to explore” as the studio has not “touched on many of her core storylines from the comics.” Through his admiration of the Scarlet Witch star by calling her “humble” and “a force of nature,” along with being willing to work with her for “100 years” if possible, he has some teases that she did not die in the Doctor Strange sequel.

“I don’t know that we saw her under rubble? I saw a tower coming down, and a little red flash. I don’t know what that means.” With that hint that with no body, there is no confirmation of her death, he ends with, “Anything’s possible in the multiverse! We’ll have to see.”

Over the course of her time in the MCU, Wanda has been through a lot of hardships. She has lost her family, her lover, friends, and children. Through the corruption of Darkhold and her grief, she was left vulnerable to become the antagonist in Multiverse of Madness. If she is not dead and hits rock bottom of her despair, then the only way is up. Although she doesn’t know what is in store for her, the star said she would want to see “some sort of redemption.”

After a slower start to build up to the next storyline of the MCU, Phase 4 is ending this year as we dive deeper into the multiverse, Mutants, and the next Big Bad with Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror. As Marvel detailed much of its plans for Phase 4 and 5, we still have questions and gaps that could see Wanda return to the MCU in some capacity.
