Inspiration can come from anywhere, and sometimes it is from the most unlikely of places. While on The View, Elizabeth Banks revealed that she was inspired by Loki for her Pitch Perfect series. The show will follow Adam DeVine’s character, Bumper, to grow from an antagonistic character to someone more endearing.

Loki followed Tom Hiddleston as a variant of his character to explore another side of him to go from villain to hero. While his charisma made him loveable and a fan favorite, it made him more sympathetic. While we knew about his story, it gave more context and depth to him. The plan for the Pitch Perfect series from Elizabeth Banks is to deliver something like that.

Elizabeth Banks found inspiration for Pitch Perfect series from Loki

For the Pitch Perfect series, Elizabeth Banks and crew bring Bumper back as he travels to Germany to revive his music career. He will come across Das Sound Machine, a music group from the second film. For the Charlie’s Angels director, she finds that this story is “about second chances” as Bumper has a “change of heart.”

The films saw her join Anna Kendrick, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, and Rebel Wilson as a group of competitive singers. The three films, which saw the second Pitch Perfect directed by Elizabeth Banks, has grossed over $585 million worldwide.

Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin hits Peacock on November 23. It will be directed by Richie Keen (Bust Down), Todd Strauss-Schulson (Isn’t It Romantic), and Maureen Bharoocha (Jimmy Kimmel Live!). It will star DeVine, Diana Birenyte (Babylon Berlin), Jameela Jamil (She-Hulk), and Sarah Hyland (Modern Family). Meanwhile, its inspiration, Loki, is on Disney+.
