Longtime Souls fans will not so fondly remember the character of Patches, the mischievous backstabber present in multiple previous FromSoftware games. He once again makes his return in Elden Ring as an optional boss battle. Fans are going to want to see their “old friend,” but even first-time players will want to consider taking him down due to the gear he carries. This guide will show you where to find the Patches boss fight in Elden Ring.

Where To Find The Patches Boss Fight in Elden Ring

You will find Patches in the first area of the game Limgrave and actually fairly close to the start of your adventure. Head to the north of the Dragon Burned Ruins to the right of the “The First Step” Site of Grace. Follow the river on the map to the north until you reach the location pictured below, The Murkwater Cave. Inside here, you will find Patches behind a fog door. To trigger his boss fight, open the chest that is at the far end of the room, he will hop down into the arena with his familiar spear and shield for the fight.

Elden Ring: Where to find the Blacksmiths

When you fight Patches, he will surrender when you get him down to around 40% health. Talking to him will allow you to forgive him, which will turn him into a vendor. He sells mainly items used for deceiving and invading other players, so if you are planning on tormenting your fellow Tarnished, he might be useful. Killing Patches drops all of his gear, including a level 7 Spear that is extremely useful as you make your way through the early game, and you won’t need to worry about the tricks that Patches has in store for you later in the game.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
