In Elden Ring, players can kick off a new quest if they find the location of Jar-Bairn, one of the new NPCs introduced in the game. This comes courtesy of the latest Update 1.03. We’ll show you exactly where you need to go to track this new minor character down to start up his questline to grab some loot and experience. Not only that, but you’ll find a connection between the Diallos Questline and the Iron Fist Alexander Questline.

NPC Jar-Bairn Location and Questline in Elden Ring

With numerous locations and points of interest to discover, it’s easy to catch yourself wandering from place to place, searching for various characters, loot, and enemies. With the NPC Jar-Bairn, his location is actually in a place you’ve probably been to before: Jarburg.

Perhaps you traveled to Jarburg, saw nothing noteworthy, and simply moved on. Well, now you have a reason to go back. For those who don’t know, Jarburg is south of the Carian Study Hall.

If you have been there, there’s a Site of Grace nearby so you can get there quicker. Once you load up into the town, you’ll notice Jar-Bairn sitting on a wall near one of the buildings. It’s hard to miss a giant jar with limbs, by the way.

Jar-Bairn Quest in Elden Ring

Once you talk to Jar-Bairn, you’ll begin the questline. He’ll ask about you being the new Potentate and may want to see your hands if you say that you are. To exhaust his conversation, you’ll have to leave the area or head to the Site of Grace to rest and return to speak to Jar-Bairn again.

When you speak with him again, he’ll tell you all about the rare flowers growing nearby and that you have permission to pick them. Once you pick them, go rest again, return, and speak to Jar-Bairn to start up another dialogue branch.

This time, he’ll ask you about Iron Fist Alexander, but he’ll refer to him as “Uncle Alexander.” After this conversation, rest at the Site of Grace, come back, and start yet another conversation with Jar-Bairn to continue the quest in Elden Ring.

After a few times exhausting his conversation, Jar-Bairn will tell you about the new Potentate in town: Diallos. Of course, this is if you finished Volcano Manor without killing him. He’s found in a small shack east of the village. Exhaust the conversations with Diallos and Jar-Bairn, rest, and come back.

When you return, Jar-Bairn will move further in the village, and several smashed jars are lying around. Diallos is found lying on the ground, dying. Speak to him, and no matter your choices, he will die.

Rest and return to find Jar-Bairn near Diallos’s body. He’ll mention that he wants to be a warrior jar like Alexander. If you finished Alexander’s questline, then you can hand over Alexander’s Insides to Jar-Bairn, a disturbing gift he’ll enjoy quite a lot.

If you rest and return again, you’ve reached the end of Jar-Bairn’s quest in Elden Ring. You’ll receive a Companion Jar talisman. Additionally, you’ll find Diallos’s Mask, Numen’s Rune, and Hoslow’s Petal Whip near Diallos’s body.
