In Elden Ring, players’ will find that completing the game is much like a checkpoint. There is much more to do, even after defeating Radagon and the Elden Beast, to conclude the main storyline. While reaching the final stages of the game can take days, exploring the entire map of Elden Ring will take much longer.
After finishing the game, players will get an option to start Journey 2. This is the new game plus version of Elden Ring, which features tougher bosses and stronger enemies. Alternatively, players can continue with Journey 1 and complete all the quests they haven’t done. Similarly, players can start hunting all the hidden bosses, visit Catacombs, Caves, Tunnels, and everything else they have skipped along the way.
What is Journey 2 in Elden Ring
In Elden Ring, players can Journey 2 right after completing the game. This can also be accessed from the Roundtable Hold if players didn’t select Journey 2 right away. You will have your armaments, Spirits, Sorceries, Incantations, and attributes intact. However, all the Great Runes collected from defeating bosses will disappear.
The Map will start from scratch, and players will lose every Site of Grace they had saved before. Although, you will have all the Map Fragments stored in Inventory. Players will simply need to rediscover these Sites of Grace just like in Journey 1. Golden Seeds and Sacred Tears will respawn at every location that players found them at before in their previous run.
Merchants and other NPCs will reappear, whereas all the Bell Bearings players collected in Journey 1 will be removed from Journey 2. All the hidden weapons will respawn, too, allowing players to own two versions of the same weapon to dual-wield them. All the bosses you face in Journey 2 will perform stronger attacks than before and will have more HP.
Players can essentially attempt to get various different endings after all the knowledge gathered from Journey 1. For instance, you can complete Ranni’s questline in Journey 2 early to have an option for the Age of Stars ending.
What is left to do in Journey 1
After finishing the main story in Journey 1, players can start exploring all the hidden areas in the Lands Between. There are several optional bosses in Elden Ring, and you can face them before finishing Journey 1. The first playthrough will give players a better understanding of the enemy’s attack set, allowing you to counter better in Journey 2.
Visit all the Catacombs, Caves, and Tunnels you skipped in the first run. You can also team up with your friends in co-op to help them progress. Players can also engage in PVP by Invading other players’ worlds. The vast open-world of Elden Ring has a lot to offer, even after finishing the game’s main storyline.
