In Elden Ring, you will face many trials and tribulations as you venture through The Lands Between. Before setting off on your grand adventure to become the Elden Lord, you will wake up in a small area known as the Chapel of Anticipation, which ends with an encounter with a Grafted Scion. This incredibly difficult fight most likely ends in your demise, and even if you manage to overcome this battle, you will fall off a cliff in a scripted event. No matter the outcome, you will then find yourself in the Stranded Graveyard, a starting area for the grand quest. There are several items and locations you will want to find and visit to get your journey off on the right foot. This guide will provide you with a walkthrough of everything you need to know about the Stranded Graveyard area in Elden Ring.

Upon arriving within the Stranded Graveyard, you will automatically be given the starting amount of Flask(s) of Crimson Tears and Flask(s) of Cerulean Tears, which are your health and FP potions, respectively. Directly ahead, you will notice a single chair with a ghost sitting in it who gazes down into a deeper cavern. This side cavern is called the Cave of Knowledge and functions as an optional tutorial area for the start of Elden Ring. Dropping down into the Cave of Knowledge allows you to touch your first Site of Grace, appropriately called the Cave of Knowledge, which serves as a rest spot and fast travel point. Continuing forward past the Grace will lead you down a straight and narrow path as you fight simple enemies. The game will give you prompts that will teach you the combat mechanics to assist you throughout the difficult adventure that lies ahead of you. After reaching the end of the cavern, you will find a fog wall door that separates you from your first boss fight. Traversing the fog will start the duel against the Soldier of Godrick, a perfect way to test what you have learned so far, so make sure to use any and all of the skills at your disposal.
Once felling the enemy, you can carry on moving forward, which will bring you back around to a small overlook that peers right over the area you spawned in. Do not drop down just yet, because there is a special item that you can pick up off of a corpse on the far edge. This item is the Strength! Gesture, which you can use to show everyone how tough you are now that you have completed the tutorial. Congratulations, you are now all-knowing, ever-brilliant, and have taken your first step to become Elden Lord.
Elden Ring: Where to find the Patches Boss Fight
If you follow the main path going directly onwards, it will lead up some stairs to a large wooden door. Going through will guide you to the second Site of Grace, named the Stranded Graveyard, that you can touch and rest at. On the right-hand side is a dungeon known as the Fringefolk Hero’s Grave, which needs two Stonesword Key items in order to access. Unless you chose that as your starting gift, you will need to come back later. Keep in mind that this is a higher-level area, so it is recommended to proceed with caution and explore the area later in the game. The bottom of this catacomb dungeon houses a boss called the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, which after defeating, will grant you the Banished Knight Oleg Ashes for spirit summoning. Just beyond the Site of Grace, you will come across an elevator that will lead you up to a metal door. Opening the door will bring you to the first main open-world area of the game, Limgrave.
Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
