FromSoftware’s upcoming RPG, Elden Ring still has a little over two months until its release date and yet, its PS5 file size may have just been revealed.

The Twitter account, PlayStation Game Size, recently posted the possible file size of Elden Ring in a tweet. The account is known for trawling Sony’s database in an effort to find information on upcoming games by examining new entries from publishers. This is how @PlaystationSize was able to find new info pertaining to the upcoming game. As can be seen below, the tweet states the file size for the PS5 version of Elden Ring will be 44GB, without a day one patch. This is comparably small when considering the size of most next-gen games these days.

The revealed information by no means suggests Elden Ring will not have a day one patch. The data for the upcoming open-world fantasy game simply provides a base file size for Elden Ring, before updates or expansions are added. With the state of most games these days, more than likely, the game will require some updates or bug fixes post-launch. Plenty of games such as the recently released Battlefield 2042 and GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition have required numerous updates after suffering from development issues caused by the pandemic and being rushed into publication. Hopefully, this will not be the case with Elden Ring but this past year has made players weary of the state of games on launch day.

As PlayStation Game Size’s tweet states both a pre-load date and a launch date, players may be able to install the game early. Of course, this is only a leak, but this could suggest players who pre-order the game will be able to install Elden Ring about 48 hours before it officially launches.

As the release of Elden Ring grows closer, players can look forward to a growing amount of coverage on the game. Earlier this week, George R. R. Martin wrote a blog post describing his involvement with the game. Take a look at that here.

Elden Ring will release February 25 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
