One of the most common locations that you can come across in Elden Ring are catacombs, underground graves that hide treasures and equipment that can help you in the Lands Between. One of the earliest catacombs that you can come across is known as the Murkwater Catacombs. With it being an area that can be accessed so early, some players might not fully understand how these areas work. This guide will walk through the Murkwater Catacombs found in Elden Ring.
Murkwater Catacombs Walkthrough In Elden Ring
The Murkwater Catacombs can be found at the end of the river that heads north of the Agheel Lake, found near the First Step Site of Grace in Limgrave. Follow the lake as far north as you can, then take a quick left to find a wooden door that leads you into the Catacombs. Right at the entrance is a Site of Grace, with a be staircase just beyond the Site that leads down further into the dungeon’s depths.
At the bottom of these stairs is an open room with a pair of Fanged Imps that will drop down from the ceiling to fight you. Once you get past them, continue down the short flight of stairs at the other end of the room but be careful since another Fanged Imp will attack you from behind once you are down the stairs. Now, with all of them dealt with, here is where the game can quickly get you killed. At the end of the hallway, you can see the lever that will grant you access to the boss of the Catacombs. Just before you enter the room with the lever, a pressure plate will shoot three volleys of arrows at you if you press it. Even if you avoid the pressure plates, you will notice two Imps standing next to the lever, with a third one jumping out from around the left corner when you enter the room. The two Imps will throw knives at you while the third one will fight you up close. You can lure the Imps out back towards the pressure plate and use the arrows you damage them. When you kill all the Imps, you can pull the lever to clear the path to the boss. Go back the way you came and take the hallway on the left. Beware of another pressure plate that will shoot arrows into your back.
Elden Ring: All Available Remembrances
Just before the door, you will face two more Fanged Imps and be able to collect some Grave Glovewort to upgrade your Spirit Summons. Once through the door, you will be able to walk through a fog door to fight the Grave Warden Duelist. This boss isn’t too difficult but can have a deceptively long range. Make sure you stay close to him and avoid his slow attacks to create an opening for some offense. When you defeat the Warden, you will be rewarded with the Banished Knight Engvall Ashes.
Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
