The Larval Tear is a rare Key Item in Elden Ring used to respec character Stats in order to modify one’s character build or equipment. Stat reallocation is conducted by Queen Rennala, a boss that players must defeat within the Grand Library of the Raya Lucaria Academy. Once Rennala has been subdued, she will offer the service of Stat respeccing in exchange for a single Larval Tear. Such a feature will undoubtedly be helpful, especially when the Tarnished discovers a new weapon or ability they’d like to use that demands a Stat requirement. While Larval Tears are finite, players are guaranteed to find them within specific locations.

Where to Find Larval Tears in Elden Ring

One of the most accessible Larval Tear locations in Elden Ring is the Village of the Albinaurics. This underground swampy hamlet sits to the south of the Raya Lucaria Academy. From the village’s Site of Grace, players can find a graveyard nearby that holds one Larval Tear.

Another Larval Tear that is easy to obtain can be found to the far north of the academy, slightly east of the Caria Manor. Atop a ridge beside a cemetery, players will find a corpse near some alien-headed like enemies. Looting the body will give Tarnished a Larval Tear and the Juvenile Scholar Set.

Larval Tears are also sold by specific merchants, such as the Abandoned Merchant in the Siofra River region below Limgrave or the Pidia, Carian Servant at Caria Manor. Pidia can be encountered atop a hidden balcony that is only accessible by climbing down a ladder from the rooftop. Players can reach this ladder by hopping down from the nearby cliffs.

Finally, Larval Tears are often guaranteed from “mimic mobs,” enemies that are disguised as another but will transform when struck by the player. Such enemies include the Undead Soldier, who can be found east of the Agheel Lake South, north of the Bridge of Sacrifice. After being attacked by the player, the soldier will transform into a ferocious Lesser Runebear. Once players take this formidable foe down, they will receive a Larval Tear.

Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
