Elden Ring has just released a few hours ago, with players finally jumping into the Lands Between as a fresh Tarnished, ready to take on plenty of challenges and hunt for the fabled Elden Ring. As you traverse the world, you’ll uncover plenty of secrets, loot, and especially important for this guide, challenging combat encounters. When in these encounters, there’s various ways to tackle battles. This includes switching between one and two-handed versions of your particular weapons. Given that this is a slightly obscure tactic though, you may be confused on how to do this. No need to worry as, in this guide, we’ll explain how to two-hand a weapon in Elden Ring!
How to Two-Hand a Weapon in Elden Ring
To get it out of the way now, you’re going to have a different button combo depending on your platform. I know, it sounds obvious but it’s worth stating nonetheless. Either way, here’s how to do it on all platforms.
PC: Hold E, then press LMB or RMB with LMB making the left weapon your two-handed weapon, and RMB naturally making the right weapon your two-handed weapon.
PlayStation: Hold down Triangle, then press either L1 or L2 to make your left weapon the two-handed weapon, or press R1 or R2 to make your right weapon the two-handed weapon.
Xbox: Hold down Y, then press either LB or LT to make your left weapon the two-handed weapon, or press RB or RT to make your right weapon the two-handed weapon.
Making your weapon a two-handed weapon can have some pros over having two single-handed weapons. While you’re losing out on versatility and a potential shield/sword combo, you gain increased damage and various attacks. This makes it great for killing much stronger enemies, as the extra damage can come in extra handy. Like any combat situation in the game, make sure to judge and choose your weapons carefully. It’ll make a big difference.
Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
