Parrying is one of the highest risk-reward mechanics in not just Elden Ring but the Souls series in general. Throwing your shield out to try and stagger an enemy for massive damage while making yourself valuable to damage can make parrying a difficult skill to learn. However, there is one skill that will not only increase the range of the parry but also increase the window that the move is active, making it useful for both veterans and players just getting the handle on the mechanic. This is the Golden Parry, and it isn’t too difficult to get a hold of. This guide will show players how and where to get the Golden Parry Ash of War in Elden Ring.

How To Get Golden Parry In Elden Ring

The Golden Parry Ash of War is in the Capital Outskirts region, just outside the large locked stone doors that lead into Leyndell, the Royal Capital. This is just north of the Oterwall Phantom Tree and up the stairs passed the Valiant Gargoyle. At the top of the stairs, you will find another golden tree and a path to the previously mentioned door to your right, with the map location pictured below. To the left of the stairs, on the railing overlooking you, you can see a Teardrop Scarab; this is where you get the Golden Parry. You need to kill the Scarab to receive the Ash of War, but there is one catch.

The Scarab will disappear if it takes damage or if you get too close, forcing you to reload the area. You will need to get some powerful magic or a bow and arrow to ensure that you one-shot the Scarab, which will then get you the Golden Parry. Once you have the Golden Parry Ash of War, you will be able to travel to the Roundtable Hold to have Master Blacksmith Hewg customize the Ashes of Wars on your shields. If you have a Whetstone Knife, you can also customize your shield’s Ashes of War at any Site of Grace.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
