Elden Ring has today released, finally letting players jump into the shoes of the Tarnished and take on a whole host of challenges. With a massive open world to explore and a minimum of 30 hours to do it all, you’re sure to be in for a wild ride. That is if the game is working as intended. See, with it being launch day and all, the game has reportedly had some serious performance issues affecting gameplay. Just one of those issues is one listed as “frame rate unsuitable for online play”. If you find yourself running into this issue, no need to worry. In this guide, we’ll (try to) tell you how to fix the frame rate unsuitable for online play issue in Elden Ring!

How to Fix the Frame Rate Unsuitable for Online Play Issue in Elden Ring

Before we give you the solutions we’ve come across, it’s important to note that there’s a chance none of these fixes may work. As said, Elden Ring is currently suffering from a wide array of issues on PC in terms of performance. As such, that may be triggering this issue and not anything on your end. If these fixes don’t work, it’s advised simply to wait for the next patch before trying again. Either way, here are some potential fixes.

The first fix you can try is to set your game to High Performance in Windows. To do this, search up “graphics” in the Windows search bar until you see the Graphics settings option. Click on that, then scroll down to Elden Ring. Then, simply click on it, select Options, then select the High Performance option and click Save. This should naturally bring up the frame rate as it has in the Dark Souls titles, and should make the issue go away. While you may have also tried this, restarting the game or reinstalling (the absolute last resort) could also work but are less likely.

Either way, if these don’t fix it, then hopefully From Software can deploy a fix for the “frame rate unsuitable for online play” error in Elden Ring. Best of luck getting your game working!

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
