One way to reach Deeproot Depths in Elden Ring is by riding the coffin at the Great Waterfall Basin, the boss lair of the Valiant Gargoyle. Yet, while the boss’s name is singular, the Valiant Gargoyle is actually composed of two bosses, the Valiant Gargoyle itself and its Twinblade variant. Tarnished adventurers can encounter this boss duo by finding the semi-hidden entrance to Siofra Aqueduct through the Aqueduct-Facing Cliffs. This area is a part of the upper level of Siofra River, which is unlocked by defeating General Radahn and gaining access to Nokron, Eternal City. Players can then face the Valiant Gargoyle twins at the far northern end of the region.

Valiant Gargoyle Boss Guide In Elden Ring

Defeating the Valiant Gargoyle in Elden Ring is undoubtedly tricky, as Tarnished challengers will need to take on two of the bosses at the same. An optimal approach would be to run a hybrid build to melee fight the first twin during the first phase. After the second Gargoyle arrives, use ranged attacks to kite and finish off the first.

Elden Ring: How to Get and Use Pest Threads

For the first phase, it’s best to stay cautious while the first Valiant Gargoyle has its sword out but be aggressive whenever it switches out with its greataxe. This is because its greataxe abilities are more sluggish and readable compared to its sporadic short sword attacks in Elden Ring. Once its Twinblade variant emerges, now would be the best moment to summon Spirit Ashes to tank the damage of one while the player finishes off the other. However, if this isn’t possible, Tarnished should use the method mentioned above regarding ranged-kiting while keeping the Gargoyles distant from the player.

There is a way to cheese the Valiant Gargoyle that still works as of Elden Ring 1.03. By luring both twins over the cliff on the back-right side of the arena, Tarnished can wait for them to use their backward jump ability to leap off into the abyss for an instant kill. This will take some practice, yet it can save those having trouble with this boss duo much stress and headache.

Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
